Spring club team details
Club training is geared towards the player that wants to increase their skill level and begin competing in tournaments against other top competition. We are looking to select players that aspire to raise the level of their skill and are willing to work hard to achieve their goals, including the continuation of play at the collegiate level if so desired. Players will be expected to come to practice with a desire to learn and win.
Team selection and overview
The number of teams we are able to field will depend on the number of players that register in each age division for tryouts. Tryout selections will be sent out within a few days after tryouts. If a player is not selected for a team the parent will be contacted by email. We will have multiple coaches attending tryouts that will evaluate players as part of the selection process. Most teams will be comprised of 10-11 field players plus a goalie.
Additional details are below as to how our U16 Regional Club Championship team and U19 New England Cup team will be selected. While we can’t commit to a specific number of teams at this time we expect we’ll be able to field the following teams (possibly more):
U16 Regional Club Championship team selection: The U16 Blue and U16 White team together will comprise the RCC practice squad. We will invite/select players to these respective teams after tryouts and they will each have their respective spring tournaments. Both the U16 Blue and U16 White teams will practice together all season and will comprise the RCC practice squad. We will use the first couple of practices and first tournament to select 15-16 field players plus two goalies from the U16 Blue & White teams to attend the Regional Club Championship tournament in Epping, NH. All players selected to the RCC team are expected to attend the tournament. If you can not attend the RCC tournament we ask that you opt out of consideration for the RCC team during tryout registration below. This will have no effect on which team you are selected to, but allows us to understand who we should be evaluating for the RCC team.
U19 New England Cup team selection: The U19 Blue and U19 White team together will comprise the New England Cup practice squad. We will invite/select players to these respective teams after tryouts and they will each have their respective spring tournaments. Both the U19 Blue and U19 White teams will practice together all season and will comprise the NE Cup practice squad. We will use the first couple of practices and first tournament to select 15-16 field players plus two goalies from the U19 Blue & White teams to attend the New England Cup tournament in Taunton, MA. All players selected to the NE Cup team are expected to attend the tournament. If you can not attend the NE Cup tournament we ask that you opt out of consideration for the NE Cup team during tryout registration below. This will have no effect on which team you are selected to, but allows us to understand who we should be evaluating for the NE Cup team.
Practice location: MRHS – Monomoy Regional High School turf
Compass Athletics – 3 Jan Sebastian Way, Sandwich, MA
All tournaments are held off-Cape. Depending on the tournament some overnight travel may be required.
We will be sending one team to the U16 Regional Club Championship. We will also be sending one team to the U19 New England Cup. Both are two of the biggest 11 v 11 tournaments in club hockey and are attended by numerous college coaches.
